Host City

Ottawa Canada

It’s a Party in Ottawa!

Meet your host city – Ottawa, Canada.

2017 will be a remarkable time in Canadian history. Not only is 2017 Canada’s 150th birthday, it’s also a great time to be in Canada, when youth are playing a key role in shaping policy and trends, today and for the future. Organizations, academia, corporations and governments – including the Prime Minister of Canada, who is also the Minister for Youth and has established his own Youth Council – are all listening to what youth have to say. Canada is ready, and excited, to host the world of 4-H in 2017 for the Global 4-H Network Summit!

All year long the capital city will join together to celebrate Canada’s 150th birthday with new exhibitions, special performances and groundbreaking technological installations. With 12 months of big, bold, immersive and moving experiences, you can’t miss out.

But don’t be nervous about traveling to a new city. Ottawa will feel like a home away from home with members of the 4-H family by your side.

Summit Location

The Shaw Centre is Canada’s meeting place in the heart of downtown Ottawa, alongside the historic Rideau Canal and a short walk from Parliament Hill, the home of Canada’s government, and the Ottawa River. The recently completed international convention centre will host our morning keynotes and daily programming. It will also serve as the central pick-up location for all evening programs.

What to Do

The Capital Pathway connects many Ottawa sights and more, so bring your sneakers and check out Ottawa on foot! You won’t have trouble finding souvenirs either. Across the street from the Novotel and attached to The Westin Ottawa, the CF Rideau Centre is home to 150 stores and you will also find unique gifts in the many boutiques along nearby Sparks Street and the By-Ward Market. The By-Ward Market is one of the oldest farmers’ markets in Canada and is also home to great restaurants and cafes serving Canadian and international cuisine.
